Sportswire 4000 for basketball season: licenses, leagues and what's not supported
Football worked all fall, then the first basketball night the ribbon has nothing. On Sports Wire 4000 that is usually a licensing or scope question, not a technical one. Here is what Daktronics documents about leagues, packages and renewals, so you can sort it out before tip-off.
Which leagues Sports Wire 4000 supports
Daktronics lists NCAA Division I men's and women's basketball, NCAA Division I football, the NFL, CFL and NHL as supported leagues, with data from the NFL, NHL, Pointstreak and Stats Perform. One detail matters for mixed setups: Sports Wire can connect to only one data provider at a time.
Basketball is its own package
Daktronics describes its Stats Perform out-of-town packages as single, double or triple sport, chosen from Division I football, men's basketball and women's basketball, each with live and final scores, schedules and standings. A football-only package will not light up a basketball night. Daktronics also notes the yearly score subscriptions are bundled with the Sports Wire license renewal. An older Daktronics post (written for the NBA) says new data credentials can take three to five days to set up, so do not leave this to opening week.
The yearly license
Sports Wire 4000 itself is relicensed every year: the serial number from the registration window goes to Daktronics tech support, who return an unlock code after checking billing. Renew both the primary and the backup PC.
NBA, WNBA and MLB are not in Sports Wire anymore
Daktronics lists the NBA and MLB drivers as end-of-life and end-of-sale in Sports Wire 4000. NBA, G League and WNBA out-of-town scores come through Data Studio Basketball NBA, and MLB through Data Studio Baseball. An arena that shows college and pro scores can end up with two systems to keep current.
When STATS rolls basketball over
Daktronics lists 10:15 AM Eastern daily for both men's and women's college basketball. More on lining that up with your clear time in when Sportswire 4000 clears the schedule, and the full pre-season list in our basketball checklist.
Where GameSlate fits
GameSlate is one price for every sport: $4,950 per venue per season covers football and both basketball programs on one license, so there is no second package to buy for February. It renders finished out-of-town pages in your look and writes them to the content share your show already plays, so there is no driver, schedule clear, output port or logo-file mapping to keep alive. Scores, clocks and finals update within a minute all game, and if the internet drops the board holds its last good pages and your phone gets a text with the cause. It runs on the Daktronics machine you already own and installs remotely in under an hour.
